7 Services You Didn’t Know Quality First Urgent Care Can Provide

You may have already visited Quality First Urgent Care to get treatment for a urinary tract infection, ear infection, upper respiratory infection, heartburn, skin rash, and other minor health concerns. Urgent Care is a really great option when medical problems occur outside of your regular doctor’s hours of operation, or when your doctor is booked and you can’t make an appointment.

Quality First Urgent Care has a full staff of doctors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners who are qualified to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. And many times, urgent care is less expensive than a trip to the emergency room.

However, there are several other very useful services which are provided, which perhaps you do not know about. Here are 7 of them:

1. Physical examinations

There are many types of physical examinations and all of them are provided here, onsite at Quality First Urgent Care. Patients can come for pre-employment physicals, DOT physicals, as well as many other physical examinations.

2. Treatments for Injuries

If you get hurt, Quality First Urgent Care can help you. Some people might think the emergency room is the best place to go. But Quality First Urgent Care also has doctors available to treat certain injuries.

We can help with minor cuts (lacerations), dislocations, fractures, and sprains. Our urgent care is a state-of-the-art facility that has the equipment to take X-rays so that our doctors can determine the severity of your injury.

Of course, if you have a significant open wound or the pain is severe and constant, the emergency room is a better choice.

Depending on the injury, you’ll have to follow up with your primary doctor for further care.

3. Drug & Alcohol Screenings

If your employer requires drug and alcohol screening, or if you need a drug or alcohol test for another reason, you don’t have to make an appointment with your regular doctor or visit a drug testing lab. Quality First Urgent Care offers drug and alcohol screenings. These usually include a blood test or urine test. A saliva test or a hair test may also be available. Check with your employer or other agency to see which type of test they will accept.

The turnaround time is quick, we can do lab results onsite.

4. STD Testing

If you think you’ve been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease (STD), or if you haven’t been tested in a while, getting tested can provide peace of mind and protect your partner from exposure. But you may feel uncomfortable going to your regular doctor for testing.

If you prefer to be tested outside of your primary doctor’s office, visit our facility for testing. STD screenings may include testing for:

  • HIV or AIDS
  • chlamydia
  • genital herpes (if you have symptoms)
  • gonorrhea
  • syphilis
  • hepatitis
  • human papillomavirus (HPV)

Regular testing is important even if you don’t have symptoms. Some STDs are asymptomatic in the early stages, but it’s still possible to pass the disease to someone else. You will receive your test within 48 hours.

5. Immunizations

If you’re getting an annual physical at Quality First Urgent Care, ask about updating your immunizations. Immunizations offered at our facility include the tetanus shot and the flu shot. You can also get vaccinations for the measles, mumps, rubella, and the hepatitis virus. These vaccines offer protection from potentially serious viral and bacterial infections.

6. EKG Testing

If you’ve had bouts of dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath, or chest pain, your regular doctor may order an electrocardiogram (EKG) for you. This test records the electrical activity of your heart and helps your doctor determine (or rule out) some of the causes of heart-related symptoms.

Your doctor may not have an EKG machine in their office, so you may be referred to a hospital or another outpatient facility for testing. Rather than going to a hospital, you can contact Quality First Urgent Care.

If you have sudden shortness of breath or severe chest pain. This can be an indication of a serious medical problem that requires treatment at a hospital emergency room. Call an ambulance for immediate medical care.

7. Medical Cannabis

Quality First Urgent Care is a medical cannabis recommended clinic that helps qualified approval patients access medical cannabis. Our medical certified staff provide a thorough and comprehensive medical screening and will discuss with you the possibilities of medicinal cannabis as an alternative health treatment and provide a Medical Marijuana Recommendation Certificate.

Back pain symptoms include, but are not limited, to:
•    Sharp pain anywhere from your neck to your hips
•    Constant achiness
•    Stiffness
Chronic back pain happens after long periods of sitting or standing, and is located around the lower or middle back. This pain is usually caused by irritating previous injuries and can cause spasms. Sometimes the pain can go right down to your legs and be very annoying and painful.

Back pain happens when something is off in the way your joints, muscles, spine, discs and nerves fit and work together. There are various types of injuries and issues that can cause back pain:
–    Herniated or slipped discs
–    Bulging discs
–    Degenerative disc disease
–    Sprains
–    Spasms
–    And more…

Apart from injuries, there are various other triggers that can cause back pain such as lifestyle triggers, emotional or mental triggers or medical conditions.
Lifestyle triggers such as weight gain, lifting heavy objects improperly or even wearing heels can aggravate the back.

When it comes to your emotional and mental health, your back could be at risk. Stress can cause muscles to tense up, and if you’re suffering from anxiety or depression, they can worsen the pain.

Finally, medical conditions like arthritis, osteoarthritis or scoliosis can affect your back, causing stiffness and pain.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to never ignore back pain. Because back pain can be connected to a variety of causes, it is always best to visit your physician or nearest urgent care facility to help assess the situation. Our physicians & nurses at Quality First Urgent Care can help diagnose and treat your back pain so you can return to your activities as soon as possible.
